BPI Certified
The Building Performance Institute (BPI) is the nation’s leading building science accreditation organization. BPI sets the standards for working on existing homes using the “house as a system” philosophy. This philosophy looks at how the components of a home, work together to maximize comfort and health.
This approach leads to greater efficiency for your home and budget. A home that has been analyzed and upgraded from a whole-house standpoint is more durable, healthier, more comfortable, and energy-efficient.
Duke Energy Progress HERO Program
BPS is a part of the Duke Energy Progress HERO residential new construction program. This program is for builders and developers that work with multi-family and energy-efficient homes. It also offers rebates and incentives for those who are a part of the program.
ENERGY STAR
The Energy Star certification is a quality assurance program that guarantees a home is energy efficient, safe, and healthy.
Home Energy Rating System (HERS)
An energy rating is required for many green building and energy-efficient building standards, including Energy Star homes. It’s also required for Energy Efficient Mortgage (EEM) and/or an Energy Improvement Mortgage (EIM). It’s a great way for builders and realtors to set their homes apart in a crowded real estate market.
During a HERS Rating, BPS will analyze the elements of a home that may contribute to energy waste or energy inefficiencies, as well as their relationship to one another.
NGBS Green Verifier
NGBS (National Green Building Standard) Green helps builders, remodelers, developers and homeowners/buyers build and understand high-performance construction and development.
They provide educational resources, advocacy tools, a credible green standard, and referrals. These tools help builders, remodelers and developers anywhere build green.
PHIUS+ Rater
PHIUS (Passive House Institute US) is an organization that provides tools to help create certified buildings in North America. They are powered by solar energy and natural heat from people and appliances inside the home.
BPS is qualified to serve as a consultant to architects, builders, and homeowners during the design/build process to ensure that a project meets all Energy Star requirements.
RESNET Certified HERS Rater
The Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) has been setting national standards for home energy rating systems (HERS) and energy-efficient mortgages for the past 25 years. Training, passing a series of core competency tests, signing a rater agreement, and completing probationary ratings are required to earn this certification.
